Becoming: A New Way of Being on the Road
There are also powerful systems that do not base morality on ontology, and within these systems, morality can be established independently of “what is.” Ontology relies on epistemology, epistemology contains ontological assumptions, and ethics is influenced by both. Even to say “truth exists” is an epistemic claim.
In the context of truth, “becoming” is often portrayed as a form of completeness. Yet, becoming does not point to finality, but to a change in the quality of the walk. Even at the point where a person feels closest to completeness, they are still on the road.
Perhaps only the pain of the search has changed, and the burning desire has given way to a deep serenity. Therefore, “becoming” is not reaching the end, but transitioning into a new way of being on the road. Even the feeling of completeness is merely a station within the journey, not its end.
